An update on the Rodney Reed case
"Each one of us can make a difference. Together we make change." Senator Barbara Mikulksi
This afternoon the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals granted an indefinite stay of execution to Rodney Reed, who was scheduled to be executed next week on November 20. Linked & Loud featured Rodney Reed in our October 30 issue, The death penalty is a modern horror.
This reprieve for Mr. Reed would not be possible without the tireless advocacy of organizations like the Innocence Project, the Reed Justice Initiative powered by Reed’s own family, and activists like Sister Helen Prejean. They have helped rally massive support from people from all walks of life, all over the world to speak out on Reed’s behalf and force the Texas criminal justice system to pay attention to his case and make a rare, but critical exception.
For any of you who made phone calls, donated, or amplified Mr. Reed’s story, thank you. This fight isn’t over, and we hope this victory is a reminder that change happens when a whole lot of people work together to make it happen.
Below I’m including our calls to action from our October 30 issue. If you haven’t yet, please read that issue and help us not only get Rodney Reed off death row, but also abolish the death penalty in the U.S.
